It'd be nice to have libxml2 2.6.11 and libxslt 1.1.8 available in Portage. I could upload ebuilds, but I just copied the older ebuilds, and with a new version number they compile just fine. Would be nice to have in the tree, though. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
yeah.. any reason to update besides that it is available ? we really do know about general updates, just have some patience please.
I was just trying to debug some code working with the Python bindings for them (which I also updated to the newest version, BTW they don't seem to be available in Portage at all) and they would only help me when I was running the newest version.
python bindings ? I might be wrong, but doesn't libxml come with it's own python wrapper ?
I think they might, but when I first tried to do import libxml2, libxslt from Python it couldn't find them, so I just downloaded and installed the bindings from http://www.xmlsoft.org/sources/python/
Are you building with USE="python"?
libxml2-2.6.11 is in
I wasn't building with USE="python", very stupid, thanks. Very cool to see libxml2-2.6.11 is in already. I was wondering if it would be useful to have a simple-updating herd with packages like that can do with pretty dumb maintainers (like myself), where a "real" dev only steps in when something goes awry with it.
Libxslt-1.1.8 is also in now. Not sure about a simple updates thing, quite often small changes are needed, and we often tweak (stylistically) the ebuild in an update (as I have in both these cases). Thanks for your contribution.
