Hi Devs. I had a crash bug with mariadb-10.1.8. The mariadb devs suggested not to use 10.1.8. To protect other users maybe gentoo should remove 10.1.8 from tree. Here is what the mariadb dev says: ----- Jan Lindström commented on MDEV-9177: ------------------------------------- Hi, 10.1.8 and earlier 10.1 versions have a bug that makes migration from any previous MariaDB version either crash or if migration is successful it could crash when you migrate to 10.1.9 that contains the fix. So if you have databases using 5.5 or 10.0, migrate to 10.1.9. If you have database using 10.1.8 try to migrate to 10.1.9 and if that fails, you need to use mysqldump and dump your database, and import it to 10.1.9. Bug was such that there is no way to avoid the crash if you are affected (we have not yet found a simple rules when you are affected). But main point is do not use 10.1.8. ----- thanks and cheers t.
