Please provide a verbose log using MAKEOPTS="VERBOSE=1" (so that we can see with which flags process.cpp is compiled). Also please provide the preprocessor output of process.cpp. It can be produced by executing the compilation command for process.cpp.o from the build log but with "-o .../process.cpp.o -c" replaced by "-E".

how about 2.4.1?
All currently available Icinga2 versions (2.3.10-r1 2.3.11 2.4.0 2.4.1 2.4.1-r1) give me the same error. Tried 2.4.1-r1 with USE=lto, same result. Last sucessfull compile was 2.3.10-r1 when I was running gcc-4.8.5. Emerging icinga2-2.4.1-r1 and icinga2-2.3.10-r1 with gcc-4.8.5 again gives a different error : [ 67%] Linking CXX executable ../Bin/Gentoo/icinga2 cd /var/tmp/portage/net-analyzer/icinga2-2.4.1-r1/work/icinga2-2.4.1_build/icinga-app && /usr/bin/cmake -E cmake_link_script CMakeFiles/icinga-app.dir/link.txt --verbose=1 /usr/bin/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++ -O2 -march=native -pipe -std=c++11 -Wno-inconsistent-missing-override -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--gc-sections -Wl,--no-export-dynamic -Bsymbolic-functions -Wl,--dynamic-list-cpp-typeinfo -Wl,--dynamic-list-data CMakeFiles/icinga-app.dir/icinga.cpp.o -o ../Bin/Gentoo/icinga2 -rdynamic -lboost_thread-mt -lboost_system-mt -lboost_program_options-mt -lboost_regex-mt ../Bin/Gentoo/libcli.so ../Bin/Gentoo/libremote.so ../Bin/Gentoo/libconfig.so ../Bin/Gentoo/libbase.so -ldl -lboost_thread-mt -lboost_system-mt -lboost_program_options-mt -lboost_regex-mt -lssl -lcrypto -lyajl ../Bin/Gentoo/libmmatch.so ../Bin/Gentoo/libsocketpair.so ../Bin/Gentoo/libexecvpe.so -lncurses -Wl,-rpath,/var/tmp/portage/net-analyzer/icinga2-2.4.1-r1/work/icinga2-2.4.1_build/Bin/Gentoo: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.8.5/../../../../lib64/libboost_program_options-mt.so: undefined reference to `std::__throw_out_of_range_fmt(char const*, ...)@GLIBCXX_3.4.20' collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status I tried gcc-vanilla (instead of hardened) for both gcc versions and it doesn't change anything.
Getting timeouts trying to upload the build log for icinga 2.4.4-r1 with gcc 4.8.5, I can retry later if you think it's useful. In the meantime I tried rebuilding boost (1.56.0-r1) with gcc 4.9.3 and retrying icinga2, but got the same results. Has anyone managed to reproduce, at least with the preprocessed file ?
I cannot reproduce the error because the included boost headers are incompatible with my arch. Could you try to reduce the test case using dev-util/creduce? See http://embed.cs.utah.edu/creduce/using .

Gcc version is x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-g++ (Gentoo Hardened 4.9.3 p1.4, pie-0.6.4) 4.9.3 Removing -fPIC or reducing to -O1 stops triggering the bug.
Thanks for reducing the test case! I cannot reproduce with armv7a-hardfloat-linux-musleabi-g++ (Gentoo Hardened 4.9.3-r99 p1.2, pie-0.6.3) 4.9.3 Have you also tested other gcc versions? Anyway, reporting to upstream gcc would be good. It might get fixed for gcc-4.9.4.
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=69588 Seems like it was already fixed in git and will be in the 4.9.4 release.
yep, this is old and fixed, closing
