Permissions for non-developers seem to be a bit over-restrictive. In particular, I'm unable to change the bug status of bugs assigned to me to CONFIRMED or IN_PROGRESS; only UNCONFIRMED and RESOLVED are possible. Has this changed lately? I remember having set bugs to IN_PROGRESS in the past.
Nothing has changed. What bug # are you referring to?
I'm referring to #567762. I don't think I've ever been able to set bugs to CONFIRMED, this seems to be restricted to developers; but I've set bugs to IN_P in the past. But even if nothing has changed lately, perhaps it's time to change it now? It's understandable that non-devs aren't allowed to mess with random bugs, but surely the should have control over their own bugs?
If I read the permission checking code correctly, assignees should be able to change the bug status. Why that doesn't take effect, I can't figure out quickly. When you're working as a proxy maintainer you should ask a developer you're in touch with about editbugs.
