Description idupsle 2015-12-03 10:25:04 UTC
Hello!

With my current kernel 4.1.2 bbswitch is unable to tell me the correct state of the discrete graphics card via /proc/acpi/bbswitch which should be "ON" or "OFF". Machine is a Thinkpad t440p with intel/nvidia graphics and nvidia-drivers.
As far as I remember, correct results were still in kernel-4.0.0.

With a patch from smunat (https://github.com/smunaut/bbswitch) or to be more precisely: https://github.com/smunaut/bbswitch/commit/ca87980cb6105c34e1a138b553eac602d8151519.patch I was able to get the good old behaviour!

1) Pacho, I can't merge fixed ebuild in tree anyway, so it will be your action anyway, AFAIK.
2) I personally think that it will be better to wait a bit until upstream merge the patch (to prevent double work on adding and then removing patch in few days in between.
And until that, I suggest bug reporter to use /etc/portage/patches to apply the patch.
