Description Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-11 09:30:47 UTC
I noticed that app-office/oooqs is missing openoffice as runtime dependency. But which one!? [ximian-]ooo[-bin] or [bin-de] (unoffical german bin ebuild from my overlay)? Please provide a virtual. Thanks.

Agree - this would be nice!

Just want to answer why I haven't done this until now (even though I agree this is necessary): OOo and ooo-ximian have different user installs, which results in not all packages reliably working with both, so this could create some problems.

I'm going to try to work out a solution for this. One might be to revert the user install seperation, which seemed a good idea when I introduced it (cause it allows parallel installs), but in reality creates also some problems

These packages don't need to depend on the virtual. At least as long as the different ooo packages block each other and you test which one is installed, when multiple ones are supported in different ways.

That's pretty ugly for depending packages. Even slotting is not 100% issue free.

I've now added the virtual, openoffice-bin is default. Closing this.
