Are you able to create a backtrace at all?
I don't see it linking with kcrash, so drkonqi won't appear.
I can get backtraces with gdb. Please advise what libraries I need to rebuild with debug info in addition to kdenlive and frei0r.
`equery g kdenlive` gives a good hint for what to rebuild.
That's quite a list! I'll start with kdenlive, mlt, frei0r and see if it goes. Will post my backtrace soon.

However it's made against a recent tree and it doesn't apply to 15.08.1. I don't feel comfortable to try to backport to 15.08 myself as I know too little about kdenlive, qt and C++ programming.
No, that wouldn't make sense, though you should really be running 15.08.3 by now to make sure you aren't fighting already fixed bugs. 15.12 will be there soon, one possibility would be unmasking kdenlive-15.12.49.9999 from overlay.
kdenlive-15.12.49.9999 works ok with Corners effect
15.12.0 is in the tree now.
