gnucas-docs requires automake 1.14 to be installed. Failure to have it installed causes the "aclocal-1.14: command not found" error during make. I am experiencing this issue on my up-to-date amd64 machine as well.
for some reason it looks like maintainer-mode is being enabled :/
2.6.10 appears to be ok but has errors in configure so I have delayed its bump.
