I'm guessing that for whatever reason upstream has included their build directory in their sdist and that's causing this issue.  I'll attach the full build log as well but the highlight is:

mkdir: cannot create directory '/var/tmp/paludis/dev-python-rackspace-novaclient-1.4/work/rackspace-novaclient-1.4-python2_7/build': File exists
