<drobbins> 1) emerge clean does a countdown and global clean
<drobbins> 2) emerge -up world does emerge pkg 1, clean pkg 1, emerge
   pkg 2, clean pkg 2, and then no clean at the end.

Just as an after thought .. mabye AUTOCLEAN="no" should still disable this
feature, as I think it gives problems (especially with gcc-3.x) during
bootstrap.

Nick, this is basically what you do in 2.0.43, so I guess we can close this ?
