After I found this I had to try it out, and all those rotten xmms mpc bugs are gone. I made ebuilds for both files and they work perfectly. Instructions: cd /usr/local/portage wget http://pwp.netcabo.pt/budrdk/ebuilds.tar.bz2 tar xfjv ebuilds.tar.bz2 rm ebuilds.tar.bz2 emerge media-plugins/xmms-musepack/xmms-musepack-1.1_alpha3.ebuild and ENJOY! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.download the ebuilds 2.emerge
Created attachment 34982 [details] libmusepack this lib is required for the plugin, i've placed it in the media-libs directory.
Created attachment 34983 [details] xmms-musepack-1.1_alpha3 i've placed this on the media-plugins directory
a few ebuilds i've added here had problems going to portage cause of the license, i want this opensource, so anyone can use it. i didnt knew which to put so i didnt put any. but i give permission to anyone who puts this on portage to add it.
this is not the same as the current cmms-musepack, is it? The forum post says it was rewritten from scratch... are the xmms mpc bugs you mentioned (but not reported here on bugzilla!) solved with the xmms-musepack-1.0 I added to portage a couple days ago?
that xmms-musepack plugin that is on portage is just an hack, its always crashing, has a lame tag support. i just posted here cause i tought people would like to have a stable mpc plugin, put if you preffer the other one, then stick with it...
I don't prefer wither one as I don't use musepack beyond testing the packages for portage... I'll check this out... as for the ebuild... it's not the license... it's the copyright. Youu need to assign the copyright to Gentoo. You do this by not deleting the header at the top of the ebuild (the first 3 lines of all ebuilds) when you submit it to bugzilla. Can you please confirm that you wish to assign copyright of both ebuilds to Gentoo.
yes you can put copyright to gentoo on both ebuilds
There are new version of these 2 packages: libmusepack 1.0.1 (more portable now, with CFLAGS change in the Makefile it even runs on ppc) xmms-musepack 1.1alpha6 (some as above) when do we see this in portage? these new versions are required to play musepack files on ppc

Somebody working on this?
yes. that's why it's assigned to me. but believe it or not, there are other bugs ;)
Well ok... sorry btw, these ebuilds also run on amd64 but for the libmusepack ebuild the symlinks in the install stage must be to /usr/lib64 instead of /usr/lib... is there some way to find out the host's libdir?
use '/usr/$(get_libdir)' you need to inherit eutils.

in portage. thanks.
Created attachment 39072 [details] musepack plugin alpha7 for Beep Media Player I'm not sure this is worth a new bug, so I'll use this one. I attach an ebuild for BMP musepack plugin, it is the xmms plugin ebuild with a few changes (mainly name of files and directory).
