I had no issue until the glibc-2.22-r1 update. Prelink worked fine with glibc-2.22.
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2015-10-23 22:39:31 UTC
it's because your new locale format does not match the version in your static binaries. you need to rebuild/relink static binaries link prelink.

currently, this is WAI.
https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-09/msg00575.html

somewhat related, prelink is pointless when everything is ASLR. we should just punt it from the tree.
Comment 3 Kenton Groombridge 2015-10-31 23:48:16 UTC
Would you be so kind to explain how to get rid of these errors? I ensured my locale setting are correct according to the Localization/Guide - Gentoo Wiki.

Ater that I rebuilt my entire tree and still get tons of these errors when running prelink:

prelink: /lib64/libdl.so.2: Conflict 00000348 not found in any relocation
prelink: /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2: Conflict 00000400 not found in any relocation
prelink: /lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2: Conflict 00000418 not found in any relocation
prelink: /usr/lib64/libffi.so.6: Conflict 00000710 not found in any relocation
prelink: /usr/lib64/libffi.so.6: Conflict 00000b48 not found in any relocation

Unfortunately google wasn't much help with this issue as all I found were others having the same issue with no resolution.

you need to relink the programs in question

I am still dumbfounded. Wouldn't rebuilding my entire world tree relink everything? I did this and still nothing has changed. I am missing something.

sorry, i didn't read your error message. this bug has nothing to do with prelink (beyond static binaries). you probably want to ask this question on the forums.

the good news is that glibc-2.22-r2 includes fixes to make this failure more graceful. the bad news is that doesn't help any static binaries you've already linked. your only choice there is to re-emerge any static packages after an upgrade.

if you keep seeing this failure, you can always force LC_ALL=C temporarily to recover (in case something like static coreutils is blowing up).
