Description Jonathan Lozinski 2004-07-07 07:35:49 UTC
The gnome terminal application becomes unstable when using multiple tabs and emerging.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.open gnome-terminal
2.su and emerge sync (or any functioning emerge, i.e. not -p)
3.open a new tab
4.try ls in new tab
5.close new tab

Actual Results:
the new tab is unstable, and gnome-terminal crashes when closing it.

Expected Results:
new tab should function like other tabs.

I believe this is related to the patches gentoo add for portage. It took me a
while to find out why it was so unstable, then I saw when trying to upgrade to
fix it, that there were patches.

Emerge was the problem (I think, yet to find another reproducable cause). I
compiled same sources without the patches, and no problems at all.

Could you post the output of 'emerge info' and the version of gnome-terminal you're trying to emerge? I've got 2.6.1 on an athlon nforce2 system compiled with -O2 (among other things) and have no problems.
