Description Kambiz Khatami 2004-07-06 08:28:11 UTC
Gentoo fails during installation with the following error:

Couldn't download rc-scripts-1.4.8.tar.bz2. Aborting.

This happens after several hours of running scripts/bootstrap.sh
Tried running the bootstarp twice and failed both times with the same error but with accessing differnt servers:

1st. try: resolving ftp.oregonstate.edu ... 128.193.0.3
.... ..... ..... more lines
No such file 'rc-scripts-1.4.8.tar.bz2'
Couldn't download rc-scripts-1.4.8.tar.bz2. Aborting.

2nd. try: connecting to gentoo.linux.no[...].... Connected

Login incorrect.
Couldn't download rc-scripts-1.4.8.tar.bz2. Aborting.

What if you do an emerge sync before restarting the bootstrap?
Comment 2 Aron Griffis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-01 15:15:01 UTC
I'm sure this is fixed now. I also added my dev account as a backup for rc-scripts for times when the mirrors haven't picked it up yet.
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:25:08 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
