Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-09-14 09:31:55 UTC
On updates I see:
>>> Messages generated by process 740 on 2015-09-11 11:00:23 CEST for package dev-ruby/rubygems-2.2.2:

WARN: postrm
If you have uninstalled dev-ruby/rubygems, Ruby applications are unlikely
to run in current shells because of missing auto_gem.
Please run "unset RUBYOPT" in your shells before using ruby
or start new shells

If you have not uninstalled dev-ruby/rubygems, please do not unset
RUBYOPT

Couldn't the warn be only shown when has_version detects no rubygems version is left on the system and, then, people need to really unset RUBYOPT?

Thanks

In rubygems 2.4.8 this message has been removed altogether since this is no longer relevant. The RUBYOPT mechanism was needed for ruby 1.8 and earlier. I'd rather keep it in rubygems 2.2.5 since it may still be relevant for people upgrading old systems. Using something like has_version would be nice but I'd rather not invest additional time in it given that I intend to mark a newer version stable soon.
