Description Raymond Jennings 2015-09-10 19:52:35 UTC
Please see attached picture.

I clicked a tab on chrome, but some garbage from the old tab got left on top of the skype popup...which btw should have repainted its own graphics.

Reproducible: Always

What is the "skype popup" - part of a webpage rendered by chrome, some kind of chrome browser extension, separate popup window belonging by the skype application, skype-related notification window belonging to your desktop environment, maybe something else?

When you say "chrome", I assume you mean www-client/google-chrome? (As opposed to www-client/google-chrome-beta, or www-client/google-chrome-unstable, or www-client/chromium)

What is your desktop environment or window manager? What is your video card?

Please attach output of "emerge --info google-chrome skype mesa xorg-server"

It's a popup belonging to skype, but that absorbed screen garbage left behind by chrome.

xfce4.
whatever is built into the celeron.

Assigning to x11 herd (sounds like a video driver problem), CC-ing xfce (might be a bug in xfwm4's window compositing).

shentino, what version of x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel do you have installed, and with what flags?

Also please look in your logs for any relevant error messages. Try to figure out under which circumstances the corruption happens (e.g. are other applications affected besides chrome and skype?)

Check if corruption happens in non-xfce environments.

x11-drivers/xf86-video-intel-2.99.917::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="dri sna udev -debug -uxa -xvmc" ABI_X86="64"
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,-z,lazy"

Everything seems fine in LXDE

I actually noticed the same thing and kind of assumed it was skype's fault but I guess the video driver makes more sense. It happens with chromium too for me so its not just google-chrome. And to clarify, the popup is completely unrelated to chrome, its the popup from skype when you get a message or call.

(In reply to shentino from comment #6)
I have this exact same version of the driver.

Please try the unstable version 2.99.917_p20161206 and report back.
