Description nile 2004-07-03 16:04:26 UTC
If gkrellm (app-admin/gkrellm) is running with the gkrellm-volume plugin (x11-plugins/gkrellm-volume) enabled, gkrellm will crash if '/etc/init.d/alsasound stop' is run. It will also crash with '/etc/init.d/alsasound restart.'

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start gkrellm2
2. Enable the gkrellm-volume plugin
3. Run '/etc/init.d/alsasound stop'
Actual Results:
gkrellm2 dies.

Expected Results:
gkrellm2 should keep on running, maybe even make the volume controls 'disappear'
from the gkrellm window, like how the File systems show up when mounted then
disappear when unmounted or how the net interface graph will disappear if the
interface is disabled (/etc/init.d/net.eth0 stop) for example.

In hindsight... this is probably a problem to be fixed upstream, no?
Comment 3 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-04 09:48:38 UTC
Not a Gentoo-specific bug, marking UPSTREAM.
