Description Stefan Triller 2015-08-25 18:43:59 UTC
kdenlive-15.08.0 does not find the QImage and Title Module, making it impossible to create titles (text descriptions) within movies.

It has to do with mlt, but in order to install kdenlive-15.08.0 one has to deactivate the kde and qt4 useflag of mlt. If I am not mistaken these flags are responsible for the QImage module.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install kdenlive-15.08.0
2. try to create a title clip
3. OK button is greyed out
Actual Results:
Cannot create title clips

Expected Results:
Title clips should work as in 0.9.x versions of kdenlive
Comment 1 Stefan Triller 2015-09-01 16:52:32 UTC
I manually edited the mlt-0.9.8 ebuild to forget about the qt4 and kde useflag and forced it to build against qt5. It also said qt5 detected while configuring and compiled fine. Afterwards I recompiled kdenlive.

But still kdenlive does NOT detect the QImage and title module of mlt which is needed for creating titles.

So is this a Gentoo related packaging bug or shall I report this upstream? Kdenlive is basically useless without this module...

mlt ebuild for test to compile with qt5

don't use this file as It. modifications are not clean,It's just for test .
Comment 3 bdouxx 2015-09-20 21:51:44 UTC
I have make some modification which work for me.

I think we need to declare a bug for mlt to compile with qt5 flag.
Modification are just for test, file is not good to use as it.
Comment 4 Stefan Triller 2015-09-21 09:33:27 UTC
Thanks bdouxx, your ebuild works!

But I agree, you should open a bug for mlt, telling them that it does not compile properly with qt5. They can also take care of cleaning up your ebuild :)

So will you please open a new bug report for mlt and link to this one?

Hi, @bdouxx. I tried your ebuild for mlt, it did compile, however my OK button in the clip editor is still gray. Can you share your additional tweaks so that I could do my titles too?

thanks.
Comment 6 pidpawel 2015-10-13 12:14:09 UTC
I can confirm this situation. After migration to Qt5 Kdenlive couldn't find QImage and Title modules, but after building mlt using @bdouxx's ebuild (Thanks!), everything is working fine.
Comment 7 Anton Gubarkov 2015-10-13 13:12:19 UTC
Pals, can you try to help a noob?

I've added an ebuild from @bdouxx, added qt5 use flag to mlt, but still have this issue:

anton@r9-008cln ~/devel/rugubara/media-libs/mlt $ emerge --info mlt

I still struggle with inactive OK button in the title clip editor. I created another machine with KF5 as the desktop environment. The symptoms are the same despite I rebuilt mlt with the ebuild proposed in this bug.

logs and stdout of kdenlive give me no hint why OK button is disabled. Can someone give me an advice?
Comment 9 Anton Gubarkov 2015-10-29 21:35:38 UTC
Ok, found out myself. I needed to run the kdenlive config wizard after rebuilding mlt with qt5 use flag. I can use titles now. I hope this post will save somebody some hair :-)

Anton! You totally saved me time and frustration, THANK YOU. I was getting worried about still seeing the greyed out OK button even after building mlt with bdouxx's custom ebuild.

Thanks, fixed in git by Andreas.
