The two flags in question are rather obscure and do not describe what the USE flag actually does.

pcre16          : Build 16 bit PCRE library
pcre32          : Build 32 bit PCRE library

The configure.ac references character sets:

--enable-pcre16: enable 16 bit character support
--enable-pcre32: enable 32 bit character support

Please clarify the USE descriptions in metadata.xml

i rewrote the file as there were numerous errors in there
