The second note after Code Listing 2.5 states:

"Note: See /etc/make.conf for how to set SYNC to retrieve a localized rsync mirror rotation."

There will not be any such example in the make.conf of a new installation, but there is in the "make.conf.example" file however. "/etc/make.conf" should therefore be changed to "/etc/make.conf.example"
