The highest stable version of virtual/gnat is at 4.3. This pulls in dev-lang/gnat-gcc-4.3.6, which in turn provokes a slot conflict with sys-apps/texinfo upon a world update. There is a virtual/gnat-4.4. It is keyworded, and appropriately so: gnat-gcc in the 4.4 slot is also keyworded. Versions of virtual/gnat which do not exist are 4.5 and 4.6; the corresponding gnat-gcc versions exist and are marked as stable. We need at least virtual/gnat-4.6. (The dev-lang/gnat-gcc-4.5.4 ebuild knows about the conflict and disables the documentation; I'll be sticking to the 4.6 slot.) I got around the problem by setting up an 4.6 ebuild in my local overlay. It was very easy to copy and modify the 4.3 ebuild, but I shouldn't have to do that.
