dev-dotnet/xsp is deprecated, may you tell what packages request it?
(In reply to Heather from comment #3) > dev-dotnet/xsp is deprecated, may you tell what packages request it? It is not masked, so the tinderbox just picked it up directly : 1439971236: *** emerge --tree --accept-properties=-interactive --update --accept-restrict=-fetch --nospinner --oneshot --quiet-build=y --color=n dev-dotnet/xsp
FWIW is there a "deprecation" file which I overlooked ?
The packages should block one another, so that emerging one will auto-uninstall the other if it isn't required, and will complain early on if it is required. In my case, I had dev-dotnet/xsp installed, and emerging www-servers/xsp failed due to the collision. emerge -vc dev-dotnet/xsp tells me that it can't be removed because dev-util/monodevelop-3.0.2-r1 depends on it. dev-util/monodevelop would depend on www-servers/xsp instead, but that's exactly the dependency which fails due to the collision. So the way I see it, if there was a blocker then portage would figure out that it can merge www-servers/xsp and then upgrade dev-util/monodevelop and unmerge dev-dotnet/xsp. Without the block, I'll have to break dependencies (i.e. emerge -C dev-dotnet/xsp) before I can attempt the upgrade.
dev-dotnet/xsp is listed on my system as a dependency for dev-util/monodevelop-3.0.2-r1 (stable). www-servers/xsp is a dep for monodevelop-5.9.5.9 (unstable). This means that upgrading monodevelop is not possible without unmerging monodevelop and it's deps. IMO, at the very least, the two xsp packages should have hard blocks on one another. According to https://qa-reports.gentoo.org/output/genrdeps/rindex/dev-dotnet/xsp the two packages that still depend on the old dev-dotnet/xsp are dev-util/monodevelop-3.0.2-r1 www-apache/mod_mono-2.10
Is there a reason this is not a pkgmove? It looks to me like a completely duplicate package.
it's exactly pkgmove by intent, but it is not done according to https://devmanual.gentoo.org/ebuild-maintenance/index.html#moving-a-package because of lack in my knowledge.
