In the instructions for installing ccache there is a section called "Activating portage support". "Portage 2.0.46-r11+ will automatically take advantage of ccache with no additional steps" I suggest you write the sentence supplied over before the "Activating portage support" section, or replace the section with "Tweaking ccache" (or just remove the heading) and remove "Code listing 7" and replace "Editing CCACHE_SIZE in /etc/make.conf" in "Code listing 8" with "Set the maximum cache size" where the code listing itself should be "# -M 2G". You could also include a code listing for including ccache support in compiling outside portage "add /usr/lib/ccache/bin to the beginning of your path, before /usr/bin" (both taken from einfo in the ccache ebuild). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Read the handbook.
Please ignore the new code listing I supplied for "Editing CCACHE_SIZE in /etc/make.conf", the present one is better.
Fixed in CVS. Thanks for reporting!
