Created attachment 408016 [details] new version of media-fonts/nanumfont It's been a long time from teh last update of media-fonts/nanumfont, indeed. after last update of this ebuild, NHN released many cool and clear additional fonts, but nobody claims why this package is not updated for them. anyway, I have a creation of a new ebuild for many fonts distributed by NHN. additional fonts also licensed by OFL-1.1. so there is no license issue. there is heavy change and it will be useful for many Korean font users. I did test for attachment and It was OK. please test again and apply for version bump. Thank you.
Hi The bug reporter came in #gentoo-proxy-maint on IRC and asked for help, and an update on this package. Is somebody looking into this issue? Thanks for letting us know.
The submitted ebuild is downloading .exe files and unpacking by hand with 7z, which is not ideal. I am working on packaging it, but I will switch to either downloading font files from Google Fonts (https://www.google.com/fonts/earlyaccess), or by creating a tarball and mirroring it in Gentoo infrastructure.

Not criticizing, we just have to follow the policies of the fonts project in Gentoo. :-) I actually found a better distribution file, so I wrote an ebuild that downloads it from upstream and pushed to my git overlay on GitHub: https://github.com/amadio/gentoo-overlay/tree/master/media-fonts/nanum I am using OTF rather than TTF, please try it out and let me know if this is ok. There is a nanumfont ebuild in the tree, but it only installs the monospace font, AFAIK. @yngwin: What do you think about renaming nanumfont to just nanum? I'd like to eventually remove font- prefix and font suffix from ebuild names, and use only the typeface names. The new ebuild installs not only the monospace font, but also the other ones too. I will soon commit this to the Gentoo tree (under the new name) if there are no objections.

OTF is also good, but given location has a lack of number of fonts. Nanum Gothic Coding should be included, and another many fonts should be came as a result as well.
Created attachment 414096 [details] an example of full list of nanum font list should be after emerging media-fonts/nanum like this.
and I agree to rename package from nanumfont to nanum

Thanks for > letting us know. It's all very well asking for an update but it's only valid to CC proxy-maint if there's a prospect of a proxy maintainer to take the package on. This has been implied but it is not actually requested. Also I don't like renaming the package unless there is added support for that from Gentoo Fonts Team

The package will be maintained by the fonts herd/project.
Perfect. Should I pull proxy-maintainers from CC then?
Sure. I just removed proxy-maint from CC. Best,

It's hard for me to know the fonts from that list... Could you please check the ebuild from my overlay again to see if they contain all the fonts? I made a tarball from the files in your ebuild.

I made a tarball from the files in your ebuild. Thank you so much your help and effort. I will suggest a new font package after 6 month for update. ;-)

I will be happy to add other fonts you propose. Best,
