Since a few days, packages.gentoo.org is apparently only synchronized once per day.

Nothing changed. packages.gentoo.org is apparently only synchronized once per day.
I use packages.gentoo.org to look whether a further emerge --sync makes sense.

packages.gentoo.org is now out of sync since saturday :-(

Yup, looks like the git move has stopped packages.gentoo.org.
