Created attachment 407416 [details, diff] alpha-fix-read-memory-barrier.patch So, this looks like it's caused by a typo in barrier.h. But, rmb has been there since 2011-09-23. So, how is it that this is causing an issue now? I found a patch from Debian that should be the fix. epatch_user is implemented in the ebuild, so it'll be easy to test this. Would you give it a go and let me know the result, please.
The patch works indeed. Once it's in the ebuild, we can stabilize 9.4.4.
