Description Alan Neilan 2015-07-17 00:36:13 UTC
when i am in the MATE Desktop, configuration changes don't apply until i log out and log back in again

such as:

* toggling compositing
* changing themes
* toggling window tiling

Could you paste an emerge --info and post what versions of mate-session-manager, mate-themes, marco, and mate-settings-daemon you have installed?

Thanks.
Comment 2 Adam Feldman gentoo-dev 2015-07-17 00:40:51 UTC
Sorry about that, accidentally clobbered your change.
Comment 3 Alan Neilan 2015-07-17 01:18:22 UTC
http://pastebin.com/CVx01xNe (emerge --info)

mate-session-manager 1.8.1-r1
mate-themes 1.8.0
marco 1.8.2
mate-settings-daemon 1.8.2
Comment 4 Alan Neilan 2015-07-17 02:12:08 UTC
When I do "Marco --replace", the window border changes will apply. Just not the theme changes

It appears that this might be a function of a regression in the latest unstable glib.

Can you downgrade glib to 2.42.2 to confirm?

Make emerge --info local instead of pastebin

i'll attempt that when i get home
Comment 8 Alan Neilan 2015-07-18 12:58:45 UTC
unfortunately, downgrading glib didn't fix it
Comment 9 Alan Neilan 2015-07-18 18:24:04 UTC
whatever was broken is fixed in 1.10

Under what conditions did you resolve this? What packages are 1.10, and what glib version?

mate-control-center is 1.10.1
mate-session-manager is 1.10.2
mate-settings-daemon is 1.10.1
mate-panel is 1.10.1
marco is 1.10.1
mate-themes is 1.10.2
mate-desktop is 1.10.1
glib is 2.44.1
Comment 12 Adam Feldman gentoo-dev 2016-01-01 03:36:49 UTC
Alright, since we are in the process of moving toward 1.10, we'll consider it fully resolved when that is added to the tree in the next couple days.
