Description Vitaly Kushneriuk (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-25 02:04:44 UTC
ucspi-tcp-0.88-r2 includes patch for ipv6 if ipv6 USE var is set
As it is set in make.defaults, the ipv6 will be compileld in on most systems.
The problem is that it[tcp*] then will use ipv6 by default, but on most systems,
ipv6 is not even compiled into the kernel (I know I don't include it. There's
not much use for it, so why wasting ram). So the result will be that all tcp*
apps, as well as all other programs that use them[like qmail that uses
tcpserver] will fail to run.
In the qmail+daemontools case, the simptom would be that after a reboot
you'll see tcpserver zomby process that's restarted every fraction of a second.

Hopefully I fixed that yesterday, as I changed the various
profiles/default-*/make.defaults so that "ipv6" is no
longer in USE by default.
