Description Klaus Kusche 2015-07-12 09:28:29 UTC
In dev-lang/orc-0.4.24, a "hardened" USE flag was added to the ebuild
for controlling paxctl settings.

In my opinion, the flag should be "pax_kernel", not "hardened":

* "pax_kernel" means hardened kernel, i.e. kernel with execute protection,
  i.e. paxctl needed.

* "hardened" means hardened userland, i.e. hardened toolchain and pie exe's

I have a hardened kernel with PaX enabled, but standard userland,
i.e. USE="pax_kernel -hardened".

I know that many ebuilds still have that wrong,
but at least for newly added flags, the correct flag should be used.

@hardened, feel free to move to the USE flag you prefer

Thanks
