j2ee 1.4.x has been around for a while now, and at least *some* people are using the newer stuff instead of 1.3.1. It would make me very happy to do `emerge sun-j2ee` and get 1.4.2 instead of installing it into /usr/local :-( Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I can only find a .bin installer for the latest version. Anyone have any ideas how we can make an ebuild for this?
the .bin is usualy just a zip you can unzip, it'll complain about some leading garbage, but it'll do it making an ebuild for it however is alot mroe work
It seems that to download the J2EE SDK we have to, at the minimum, download the Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 Update 1. In this case, it appears we don't have a choice that I can see. I don't see a separate download for just the J2EE packages. http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/download.html#sdk This would be great to have as an ebuild since it contains other jar files which are being utilized more and more in java technologies.
Writing this ebuild is a massive undertaking. We do not have the capacity to handle it ourselves at the present point in time. However, we will be very receptive to including something from our power users;) Marking as REMIND for now, so that it'll show up on the orphaned ebuilds list in the wiki.
