Description Travis Tilley (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-27 13:30:21 UTC
Name: Robert Moss
Email: "Currently robert.moss@jesus.ox.ac.uk, but I think this may well be disappearing soon, as I've just finished. I need, therefore, a new e-mail address. I'll be getting robert.moss@alumni.jesus.ox.ac.uk in a couple of months, but until then the former should be safe."
Physical location: "This may vary! For now, though - Caernarfon, North Wales."
@gentoo.org account: robmoss@gentoo.org
Mentor: lv@gentoo.org
Areas of responsibility: mostly gcc-porting and probably amd64 in the not-so-distant future (he gets his amd64 hardware in ~3 days). possibly toolchain as well, depending on his level of free time and/or spare sanity. ;)

when asked for a brief description of himself, he responds with "Hmmm... 21-year old Oxford University mathematics student, top 10 UK table football player and former national champion, aspirations to work in either finance or, preferably, computing, with job hunt ongoing, bit of a neophile, interested in football, politics, making best use of old hardware in the most inventive manner possible, preferably in a wireless fashion so it can keep its ugly arse in a cupboard. That okay? :P"

two week evaluation period starts 27th of June 2004.

This guy gets my overwhelming approval for being a dev, BTW. :-)
Comment 2 Jason Huebel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-28 08:35:32 UTC
I'll take care of this one... Eval period ends July 11th.
Comment 3 Robert Moss (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-06 19:18:16 UTC
Not really sure if I'm supposed to comment on my own bug, but this is just a note to say that I've done most of the stuff noted on the relevant doc but have been minus a computer for a few days as I had to move from uni accommodation back home. The relevant 'things' will be submitted tomorrow or the day after.
Comment 4 Deedra Waters (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-12 11:29:15 UTC
I'll take this one...
Lv, we still have no quiz or keys for him, what's the status here?

Comment 6 Robert Moss (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-12 13:36:22 UTC
Sorry guys - a little explanation, perhaps?

My computer didn't take kindly to being transported in a Transit van from Oxford to North Wales. So having already had to re-do the quiz answers once, because I didn't back them up (stupid, I know) I now have to redo them AGAIN! It's really inexcusable seeing as I had six other computers I could have stored this on too, but - well, you live and learn.

That said, I'm getting quite good at this quiz now. Hopefully I can get it redone this evening. I'll also generate my keys and stick them on a CD or three, and store them in various locations around various houses in large bombproof safes or similar. ;-p

Sorry again for the delay, and apologies for getting really annoyed at grub last night and making an absolute mammoth patchset for grub-0.95, with associated new ebuild, to get things really going under GCC 3.4 / AMD64 / Reiser4 / systems with broken BIOSes / so on and so forth... that said, it does work very nicely, and that stupid menu.lst symlink thing is fixed! And hopefully we can go back to using grub-install soon...

Anyway, watch this space. Hopefully quiz answers and keys will appear in a few hours, coffee supplies permitting. Sorry again for the delay, I really must try and take more care of this sodding machine!

Please email that stuff to recruiters@gentoo.org instead.
Comment 8 Travis Tilley (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-12 18:06:04 UTC
rob... mind showing up on irc at some point relatively soon?
Comment 9 Robert Moss (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-15 17:14:51 UTC
Just a heads-up on my current status - the Chaintech Zenith ZNF3-250 m/b doesn't properly support PS/2 keyboards yet, so it killed it for me; today I've been to get a USB keyboard so I can type again. Also, a BIOS update fixed the random disk write problems I was having so the quiz that's been eaten twice can now survive long enough for me to generate the GPG keys and submit the quiz answers and so on and so forth. Apologies for the continued delay - this should now no longer be an issue.
Comment 10 Travis Tilley (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-21 15:00:58 UTC
<robmoss> Lv: still no CVS, heard nothing about my quiz answers yet :-(

just out of curiousity, have they been received?
Comment 11 Deedra Waters (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-21 16:16:03 UTC
I've got them, but I've been busy this week, I should be able to take care of it tomorrow or friday.
Comment 12 Deedra Waters (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-22 12:38:25 UTC
Rob, come talk to me on irc so we can discuss your quiz etc.

By the way, I think we still need your ssh2 dsa passworded public key.

Recruiters: Please retire Rob Moss...

He's been MIA since november 2004:

I don't see a user 'robmoss2k' only robmoss. Am I to assume thats the user I
need to disable?
Comment 17 Mike Doty (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-02 08:49:22 UTC
robmoss is correct. sorry I wasn't clear
Comment 18 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-02 08:52:22 UTC
Done
Comment 19 Robert Moss (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-08 13:06:37 UTC
Evening all.

Just in case anyone's bothered, my computer vanished in a fire in late November,
I got a new one (at last) about 6 months ago now, but have since been employed
and have precisely zero free time. I fired off an e-mail to another dev to let
them know I probably wouldn't be back; it appears that they'd also been retired
considering the contents of this thread.

I've recently moved back to Gentoo (damn I've missed it) but I don't think I'll
have sufficient free time to return to being a developer. Apologies to all
involved for the confusion and lack of contact - I simply assumed that the guy
in question would have sorted it out, unfortunately his absence ensured that
this wasn't the case.
Comment 20 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-15 18:13:18 UTC
Ok, I took care of everything on my end (including bugs). Handing over to forum
folks if he's still listed as a developer there.
Comment 21 Anders Hellgren gentoo-dev 2005-08-16 00:31:36 UTC
