What version of specimen is this ebuild for? I couldn't deduct this neither from the attachment name nor the contents of it.
Please use something like specimen-0.4.0.ebuild as attachment name

the ebuild looks pretty good, it emerged OK on one of my test machine, and gave me some joy playing this instrument. Thanks!

Unfortunate, we can't accept this ebuild as it does not have the gentoo header and thus you retain copyright of the ebuild. Everything in portage must be copyright Gentoo Foundation for legal reasons. 
Do you wish to hand over the copyright of this ebuild so it can be added to portage?  You can do this in the future by just keeping the gentoo header in the ebuild (or copy it from another ebuild).

I did some minor cleanup to the ebuild and commited it to CVS.
