GCC with graphite loop optimization stopped working after upgrading dev-libs/isl to 0.15. I tried to recompile GCC, but it failed with errors like /home/gentoo/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-5.1.0/work/gcc-5.1.0/gcc/graphite-poly.h:102:11: error: ‘isl_options_set_schedule_fuse’ was not declared in this scope According to https://gcc.gnu.org/install/prerequisites.html ISL 0.14 (or 0.12.2) is required for graphite loop optimization. no, the whole point of the code is to support multiple versions of isl. we do not want to pin the versions in gcc. also, you must post `emerge --info` and full build logs as attachments for all of your bug reports.

If it helps you, I'll attach the build.log of sys-devel/gcc-5.1. Another thing which hit me several times: when ISL is upgraded to an new slot/so name, gcc stops working. Would it be possible to have a slot dependency on ISL in the GCC ebuilds, so that an upgrade of ISL would trigger a remerge of GCC (like gentoo does for poppler and libreoffice e.g.)?

can we upgrade this to a major or critical bug? The gcc-5.1.0 ebuild should certainly be modified to not allow new isl to pull in. I can't downgrade to older isl with gcc-5.1, getting error: configure: error: gmp library not found GCC-4.9.2 needs older isl and cloog to build, so I'm effectively stuck with a system I can't modify my toolchain on, which is sort of a critical problem. Will try building a new gcc-5.1 without graphite support and maybe will be back to a usable toolchain.
(In reply to Joe Kappus from comment #5) you're using a compiler that isn't even in ~arch yet, so no, major/critical status doesn't make sense. you should be able to switch to older compilers using gcc-config at any time. further, isl only causes problems w/gcc itself if you try to use graphite related flags ... if that's broken, then don't use them.
should be all set now in the tree; thanks for the report! Commit message: Fix building with isl-0.15 http://sources.gentoo.org/sys-devel/gcc/gcc-5.1.0.ebuild?r1=1.4&r2=1.5
updated the dlopen patch to handle the new version: http://sources.gentoo.org/gentoo/src/patchsets/gcc/5.1.0/gentoo/74_all_gcc5_isl-dl.patch?r1=1.1&r2=1.2 had to port gcc itself too in some places: http://sources.gentoo.org/gentoo/src/patchsets/gcc/5.1.0/gentoo/75_all_gcc5-isl-0.15.patch?rev=1.1
There was a follow up on the GCC mailinglist https://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-patches/2015-07/msg01506.html. Upstream combined the two patches and commited them as https://gcc.gnu.org/git/?p=gcc.git;a=patch;h=a26dad6a5955ed8574efc8d149faca3963a48d46. Perhaps you want to adjust your patch.
i'm aware as i was cc-ed on the patches. all the patches were against the master branch though, so they don't really apply to the gcc-5 branch.
This bug is marked as RESOLVED FIXED but it still seems to apply. I cannot compile either gcc-5.2.0 or gcc-4.9.3 with USE="graphite" using isl-0.15. Both builds fail, using gcc-5.2.0 compiled without graphite, and produce the following errors: graphite-optimize-isl.c In file included from /tmp/portage-acc/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-5.2.0/work/gcc-5.2.0/gcc/graphite.c:88:0: /tmp/portage-acc/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-5.2.0/work/gcc-5.2.0/gcc/graphite-poly.h:398:43: error: 'isl_constraint' has not been declared extern void print_isl_constraint (FILE *, isl_constraint *); /tmp/portage-acc/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-5.2.0/work/gcc-5.2.0/gcc/graphite-poly.h:402:35: error: variable or field 'debug_isl_constraint' declared void extern void debug_isl_constraint (isl_constraint *); /tmp/portage-acc/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-5.2.0/work/gcc-5.2.0/gcc/graphite-poly.h:402:35: error: 'isl_constraint' was not declared in this scope /tmp/portage-acc/tmp/portage/sys-devel/gcc-5.2.0/work/gcc-5.2.0/gcc/graphite-poly.h:402:51: error: expected primary-expression before ')' token extern void debug_isl_constraint (isl_constraint *); ... (In reply to Frank Peters from comment #11) builds fine for me. please file a new bug and include full build logs as attachments.
