Description Salim Fadhley 2004-06-25 19:01:55 UTC
After an emerge -uD world, I noticed my Prism54 wireless drivers appear to no longer function. The module loads and appears to be okay, however dmesg seems to have a problem initialising:

(note, in the following log I loaded and unloaded the driver a number of times to ensure that it was consistent)

sal@chico sal $ dmesg | grep pris
Loaded prism54 driver, version 1.1
prism54: PCI device memory region not configured; fix your BIOS or CardBus bridge/drivers
prism54: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5
prism54: pci_request_regions failure (rc=-16)
prism54: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5
Unloaded prism54 driver
Loaded prism54 driver, version 1.1
prism54: pci_request_regions failure (rc=-16)
prism54: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5
Unloaded prism54 driver
Loaded prism54 driver, version 1.1
prism54: pci_request_regions failure (rc=-16)
prism54: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5
prism54: pci_request_regions failure (rc=-16)
prism54: probe of 0000:02:00.0 failed with error -5

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install kernel 2.6.x, and prism54 driver
2. Plug PC card into interface
3. Observe dmesg log

Actual Results:
Prism54 PC-Card fails to init

Expected Results:
The Prism54 card was working perfectly with an older version of the driver,
unfortunately since it appears to be built from CVS it is not so easy to get
the ebuild to revert to just the right previous version.

This is a known bug amongst the Linux-PCMCIA developers, you can read about it

My mistake, THIS is the discussion with a possible fix for the broken Prism54 drivers:

Comment 3 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-30 16:54:55 UTC
Um, what can I do about this?
Comment 4 Henrik Brix Andersen 2004-10-18 07:02:45 UTC
No idea. Suggest closing as UPSTREAM.
Comment 5 Greg Kroah-Hartman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-18 09:52:52 UTC
Ok, closed as an upstream issue :)
