bluez-utils (2.7, at least) includes many useful bluetooth programs and a nice init script, but the init script doesn't seem to have an option to start hidd (with --server option), which is needed for many bluetooth devices. Perhaps an option under /etc/conf.d would be appropriate. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
