Alsa has a bug and alsa-project.org has released 1.0.5a last month, because of this issue, but still someone decided to mark 1.0.5 as stable. I can't believe it. I had to boot in single mode to stop initialization of alsa otherwise my machine would hang. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Please update the ebuild with thew latest alsa version
Just to verify this bug, I updated the ebuild for alsa-driver to use 1.0.5a and now my machine works fine again, the hang at boottime is gone sound is back to normal, so please update the ebuild as soon as possible.
well I've had no bug reports about 1.0.5 being unstable here, and I've been using it for a month on 3 machines under 2 different arcs, so I marked it stable... I'll update it to 1.0.5a.
OK. So it probably just affects certain chips, I use the built in nforce2 audio. Thanks for taking care of this!!!
