Description Tobias Minich 2004-06-24 02:01:24 UTC
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I've tried now several times: when I start the game I always seem to start off in some kind of high level dungeon. Usually the first monster I meet kills me off (sometimes even before I have a chance to react after the introduction stops!). Any help appreciated...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create Character
2. Go through introduction
3.

Actual Results:
My character dies

Expected Results:
Being able to play the game and only die of my own stupidity ;)

This appears to be working on my ~amd64/gcc3.4/glibc 2.3.4-20040605/2.6.7-gentoo-r5 system. Perhaps this bug is isolated to x86 users? Have you tried installing this package on an x86_64 machine that you don't own and then seeing if the bug is isolated to you, as an x86 user, and does not affect the owner of the machine?

In all the bugzilla work I've done. I've got nothing to say on this.

@P Nienaber
Well, i tested it on two x86 architecture pcs, both show the same behaviour.

@Chris White
I don't quite get you... Currently I tried to play the game on two pcs, as soon as I start to play my character either dies at once or on meeting the first monster (I admit, once I actually managed to kill one, but the second one finished me off). Mind, I didnt go look for trouble! This happen right after character creation and the indroduction! Therefore I have to consider this a bug...

To prevent misunderstandments, the character dies from being killed my monsters present in the room I start in. I also treid diffrent characters (to exclude that the chracter I first tried was simply too wimpy for all monsters in the game).

have you considered that this may just be a really hard game? Either in general or for you, specifically?

Have you asked for help on their user forums?

Well, actually thats why I put the question mark in the subject =)
I haven't asked yet, because the usual Gentoo philosophy is (afaik) talk to the maintainer first, those will get to the original devels.
On the other hand, there is this introduction I mentoned and if I understood it correctly, I should be in the city when I start out, but I'm not, I'm in a dungeon.
Well, I'll post in their forum.

Ok, the only thing I thought wasn't responsible was =)
(For those experiencing the same and stumbling onto this report, don't play a lost soul character)
