Some of the components there are obsolete, others are hard to find. For example, the Devmanual is hidden there where nobody expects it. OTOH, the "Documentation" product has only two components ("Installation Handbook" and "Other") so really isn't overcrowded. The specific components: Developer Handbook obsolete Devmanual could be moved to "Documentation" product where it would be easier to find GLEP Changes ditto New GLEP submissions ditto Other duplicate of "Documentation"/"Other documents" (well, it has a different assignee, but do we really expect users to get this right?) Portage Documentation duplicate of "Portage Development"/"Documentation" Project-specific documentation "Project pages under www.gentoo.org/proj" are obsolete (moved to Wiki)
historically this made sense: * all docs were in guidexml * changes required committer access * patches ran through bugzilla * users had to file requests here * people wrongly submitting docs bugs was high with all the docs (more or less) moving to the wiki, we can probably collapse Products. but i think it's a pita in bugzilla to retire Products/Components ?
Do we even have 'installation handbook' per-se anymore? I think the easiest route forward would be to disable and rename the old 'Documentation' component, then rename 'Doc Other' into 'Documentation'. That said, I've disabled 'Developer Handbook', 'Portage Documentation' and 'Project-specific doc' for new bugs.
And done, enjoy! Hopefully users will find this much easier to use. Also, it says straight ahead it doesn't contain wiki.
