Description Bryan York 2004-06-23 00:51:10 UTC
The autoconfig script included with catalyst, and therefore the livecd's is pretty outdated. It would be great if you included the knoppix-autoconfig, that really does a great job of detecting the devices. It even mounts the partitions. (This may not be wanted for installation purposes, but it makes for a great livecd.)

Another great thing this script does is background the dhcp signal. For example, if I forgot to plug in my network cable, a livecd would hang for a minute. In knoppix, it will background the signal so you may continue booting your system.

You may need to tweak the script a little, as it is meant for knoppix purposes, but using it as a template would be good.

Regards,

Bryan York

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make a catalyst livecd.
2. Boot.

Actual Results:
Saw the outdated script, and wait for a timeout for unplugged net cards. :(

Expected Results:
Wanted it to background the dhcp timeout, so it would continue to boot.

I'll look into this, or something similar.

Well... the newer livecd stuff runs the DHCP requests in the background... it has also been updated a bit... I'm going to mark this as WONTFIX simply because I think the current tools are pretty good now that I've modified them...
