Description David E.Miller 2002-07-23 19:05:04 UTC
emerged courier-imapd and squirrelmail following inststuctions on website.
There was no installation problems, but after logging into squirrelmail, I get
the following message in the upper left hand corner of the Inbox screen after
logging in:

Please contact your system administrator and report the following error:
Fatal error: No such file or directory

Everything else on the screen looks normal. It just shows this small message in
the upper left hand corner.

It appears to me that there has been some changes to the courier imap rc
scripts since the website installation was produced and the discussion about
the Maildir vs. the Gentoo .mailbox issue has changed somewhat since then. In
any case Squirrelmail as installed clearly is not finding some files or
directrories it expects to find in the home directory of the logged on user.
Something is missing here. I was not able to figure out what the Gentoo website
meant when it said that Gentoo uses "$HOME/.maildir instead" of Maildir. This
directory (.maildir) was not set up for any new users I created and it is not
is the /etc/skel for new users, so I am not sure what is meant by this.

I have not had a chance to completely exercise Squirrelmail and check it
out,but it looks like to me that there is something missing in the way of
proper mailbox configuration or directories.

What configuration to squirrelmail have you done?

cd /home/httpd/htdocs/squirrelmail-{version/config
./conf.pl

Configure squirrelmail for your system.

Have you done this yet?
