Description zlg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-04-25 11:02:27 UTC
With the following setup in my ~/.bash_profile:

/usr/bin/keychain ~/.ssh/id_rsa ${GPGKEY}
source ~/.keychain/sporkbox-sh > /dev/null
source ~/.keychain/sporkbox-sh-gpg > /dev/null

keychain 2.7.1-r2 will properly detect both keys and prompt me for their passphrases.

keychain 2.8, however, will only prompt for the SSH key, claiming that it cannot find my GPG key despite it being set in $GPGKEY and stored wherever gnupg happens to put it (~/.gnupg I presume).

The output from keychain 2.8 is:

 * keychain 2.8.0 ~ http://www.funtoo.org
 * Found existing ssh-agent: 2413
 * Warning: can't find 09818807; skipping
 * Known ssh key: /home/daniel/.ssh/id_rsa

I have tested this with and without killing a running gpg-agent. Even a fresh boot fails to fix it. Downgrading to keychain 2.7.1-r2 instantly fixed the issue.

Daniel, what is your app-crypt/gnupg version? I've got 2.1.3-r2. And the problem is this that both keychain and gnupg get minor upgrade at once: keychain: 2.7.x -> 2.8.x and gnupg: 2.0.x -> 2.1.x.
Comment 2 zlg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-04-26 11:17:55 UTC
Currently using app-crypt/gnupg-2.1.3-r3 (merged 2015-04-22).
Comment 3 Daniel Robbins 2015-04-26 16:05:25 UTC
Try adding the --agents ssh,gpg option. Keychain now defaults to only starting ssh-agent.

Odd; I had tried that prior, but I believe it was `--agents gpg,ssh`, and after the key arguments. Does position matter in this case?

I tried that flag between `/usr/bin/keychain` and the args/keys and it worked AOK. I'll mark the bug accordingly. Thanks for the clarification!

For anyone stumbling across this in the future:

/usr/bin/keychain --agents ssh,gpg ${SSHKEY} ${GPGKEY}

Worked.
