Currently have a 2.6.5-gentoo-r1 running fine; copied over the config; compiled the new 2.6.7. boots fine, but keyboard doesn't work at all. Numlock is brought up by the BIOS, but I can't change it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot kernel Actual Results: should fully work Expected Results: keyboard doesn't work I have a PS/2 QWERTY keyboard, USB (Ms Intellimouse Expolorer) mouse on a P4 Hyperthreating machine. I think the problem is with this line: i8042.c: Can't read CTR while initializing i8042. I'll put the complete dmesg's (both, current running 2.6.5 and new 2.6.7) in attachement; also the 2 .configs will be there
Created attachment 33851 [details] dmesg output of my WORKING 2.6.5 This is the dmesg output of my current working 2.6.5 kernel. It's only here for comparison
Created attachment 33852 [details] dmesg output of my BROKEN 2.6.7 This is the dmesg output of the NOT working 2.6.7 kernel
Created attachment 33855 [details] Config of the BROKEN 2.6.7 the used .config when compiling the 2.6.7
Created attachment 33856 [details] Config of the WORKING 2.6.5 included for comparison
I might add that I use gcc version 3.3.3 20040412 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.3-r6, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
I'm assigning this to the x86 kernel team to have them look over. They'll be better at looking for differences in the dmesg's and config files.
Ick, this looks like an upstream bug. Can you please file it at bugzilla.kernel.org? The people there can take care of it, not much we can do here, as it's not a gentoo specific issue.
