The last stable release of digiKam is 4.9.0:

At the moment, the portage tree only has 4.4.0-r1 ~4.6.0 and ~4.7.0. Please bump.

For those impatient, I've managed to merge and run digiKam 4.9.0 by copying the ebuild for 4.7.0 and changing the following:

-SRC_URI="mirror://kde/stable/${PN}/${MY_P}-1.tar.bz2"
+SRC_URI="mirror://kde/stable/${PN}/${MY_P}.tar.bz2"

I give no guarantees thou.

The attached ebuild works fine for me on amd64 with GCC-4.9.2 in Plasma 5 using kde-apps where available.
