Emerge of dev-lang/ruby-2.1.6 fial:

Found it!

for reference it's caused by the lack of CPU_FLAGS_X86 in make.conf

to add a correct one you can cat /proc/cpuinfo and add manually the corrects keys.

or you can emerge -avt cpuinfo2cpuflags,
run cpuinfo2cpuflags-x86,
copy the displayed string to your make.conf
rerun the failed emerge
et voila !
