I have small suggestion. In paragraph 7.d "Alternative: Using genkernel". The user should write out names of kernel and initrd in order to use them later in boot loader. It would be grate if within boot loader paragraph ( or even better boot loader file ) will be some hint to use those names that user wrote. Roman Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Hi. I'd like to say thank you very much for such good documentation. I must say that in my case reality and documentation were the same things. The only one small problem I had already described. It is not a serious problem, but still it can save a lot of time to an user. Thank you. Roman
I've already added a sentence during the manual kernel configuration about the kernel naming (bug #53514). For genkernel users we already have a paragraph about writing down the name of the kernel and initrd for later use. In the bootloader configuration we state that the naming used in the example is an example value (kernel-2.4.25-gentoo) used throughout the document.
A fairy told me I would fall in dark ages if I didn't overly stress the use of a real filename during bootloader configuration and how can I refuse what a fairy tells me?
Fixed in CVS.
