Description Ian Delaney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-04-07 04:13:19 UTC
Stefan has prepared the following description informing us of his background education and involvement in the Gentoo Project.

......................................................
I'm student of IT currently completing a Master of Science and I have used Gentoo for over 10 years now. I like Gentoo for the strong focus on the upstream source and how it brings a standardized way of customizing the operating system and installed applications. This mindset is what has brought me to Gentoo and makes me hold on to it. Furthermore I want to participate in the future roadmap and development of the distribution.

The following partition of my current skillset should allow me to contribute
in different corners of Gentoo:

- Shell,
- Python,
- C/C++,
- Infrastructure/Networking,
- Embedded Devices

In the past few years, I've contributed to various bugs on the official bug
tracker. I'm active on IRC as often as I can, mainly in the channel
#gentoo-virtualization where I have already worked with a couple of active developers. I have been active in discussing, testing and working ebuilds that will become available for everyone through the official portage tree. I've recently started on working on an eclass with the #gentoo-releng team, which I would like to continue officially.

I'll be happy to contribute a lot more than I've done so far!
......................................................

I observed Stefan join #gentoo-virtualization mid last year and he soon became active in pursuing a project related to use of docker images in generating / creating an openstack o/s. He soon gained the respect and the co-operation of the devs of the openstack project and his contributions have been both welcomed and absorbed into packages of openstack. His preferred herds or projects to join on becoming an ebuild developer are made clear in his prepared introduction.

I don't think herds need to be CC'd on a new dev joining, so removing.

I'm in the process of writing up the quiz answers. Slowly but surely.

To my knowledge he has abandoned pursuit of developer state but I do not have adequate info to warrant setting to WONTFIX
