For kernel 3.19+ a new firmware version is recommended/required. I already successfully tested with gentoo-sources-3.19.3. With the older firmware I was not able to use the Intel Wireless-AC 7265 with the 3.19.3 kernel.
Adding a new slotted version would be desirable.
