Description Michael E. Adams 2004-06-19 17:54:03 UTC
The install worked fine with the original kernel (can't remember version). I had wiped my system to try the Fedora Core 2 for AMD64. Decided to reinstall Gentoo. But now it won't install (because of the kernel upgrade, I believe).

I have a Compaq R3000 with AMD64 3400+ processor, 1G Ram, Nvidia 440 graphics.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow Gentoo Linux/AMD64 Handbook installation instruction and use Gentoo store CD.
2. Downloaded stage 3 tar from mirror.
3. emerge sync (which causes the new kernel to be used).
4. genkernel all

Pleaes try the 2004.2 LiveCD (you may need to modprobe ide-disk after bootup) and let me know if that works for you.
Comment 2 Jason Huebel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-11 19:49:03 UTC
2004.2 did the trick for the user. Closing this bug.
