Description Alex Murray 2004-06-19 17:27:03 UTC
Am using gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7, nvidia-kernel-1.0.5336-r4, nvidia-glx-1.0.5336-r2, xfree-4.3.0-r5,

System boots fine into the GDM login screen, then if I go to System menu and click on either Restart the Computer or Shutdown the Computer system will IMMEDIATELY hang and is completely unresponsive - have to do reset via ATX case switch...

Also if once logged in then from GNOME menu I go to log out, the same thing occurs (would normally take me back to the GDM login screen, but before it can get there it hangs).

Also if from the GDM login screen I hit CTRL+ALT+F1 to go to console - again it hangs... same again if hitting CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE to restart the Xserver..

HOWEVER I can shutdown once logged in if I open up a terminal and su then run reboot it reboots fine...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. see above
2.
3.

Actual Results:
SYSTEM COMPLETELY HANGS

Expected Results:
either logged me out back to gdm or switched to console 1 or rebooted the system

Comment 1 Alex Murray 2004-06-19 18:10:37 UTC
NOTE: does not occur when using standard 'nv' driver, only when using 'nvidia'
      with 'glx'
