Description FieldySnuts 2004-06-19 10:22:31 UTC
I am currently running mozilla-thunderbird-0.6. emerge -pv mozilla-thunderbird shows 0.7 as N (new), when my impression was that it should be U (upgrade).

Am I off the deep end here?

Run emerge as root so it can update the database.
Comment 3 FieldySnuts 2004-06-19 11:26:29 UTC
This is what I was doing. I didn't actually emerge it, just pretend. Do you mean go through with the merge?
Comment 4 Tom Shaw 2004-06-19 16:46:30 UTC
My version of .6 was labled as:
net-mail/mozilla-thunderbird-bin

,7 is labled as:
mail-client/mozilla-thunderbird-bin

I just uninstalled thunderbird first then emerged it again.
emerge net-mail/mozilla-thunderbird-bin -C

You'll have to do that if it gives you an error about two versions.
Comment 5 FieldySnuts 2004-06-19 16:47:26 UTC
Ah I see now, looks like the category or whatever changed. This makes sense now.
Comment 6 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-21 02:06:24 UTC
I'm not actually sure if this is a bug. If it's not feel free to
let dev-portage know.

Moz Guys: It's your bug. We're outta here.
Comment 7 Aron Griffis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-21 14:55:48 UTC
Ok, just sounds like a trivial thing... if a package is moved, it shows up as N instead of U. I suppose it *should* be U, but it doesn't really matter, I think, since package moves shouldn't happen very often.

Thanks for the bug report.
